The Hemel Hempstead School has a large and thriving Sixth Form.

The Hemel Hempstead School is an 11-18 mixed, non-selective Academy School (part of the Scholar's Education Trust). There are 1256 students aged 11-18, including 250 in the Sixth Form. Students are drawn from many parts of the town, although predominantly from the area immediately surrounding the school. Results are typically in line with the national average at Level 2 and above the national average at Level 3. The majority of our Sixth Form students continue to higher education (77% 2022) with the remainder opting for apprenticeships or employment.  A small percentage of students will take a gap year before applying for higher education.  On entering Year 12 students are required to study three Level 3 courses.  Courses are arranged in blocks (to assist timetabling) so some restrictions on subject combinations exist.  Predicted grades, completed by subject teachers, have been based on a variety of criteria including data; Year 12 assessments, including end of Year 12 continuation exams, and any assessments completed at the beginning of Year 13.
