The Hemel Hempstead School has a large and thriving Sixth Form of nearly 300 students.

We offer traditional A Levels in a wide range of subjects as well as Level 3 applied qualifications. Our Sixth Formers are highly valued members of the school. Student leadership features very heavily in our commitment to ensuring that our young people maximise their personal as well as academic potential. Sixth Formers are House Captains, organising Music, Dance and Drama festivals every year. They organise charity fundraising activities and act as prefects and mentors for younger students. The Head Boy and Girl, their Deputies and other Year 13 students form the Sixth Form Executive Committee which plays a major role both within the Sixth Form community and in representing the school as a whole in various respects.

Students are supported in their academic studies by their subject teachers, their Form Tutors, Mr P Bryson (Head of Sixth Form) and Miss F Dayton (Deputy Head of Sixth Form). In addition, Mrs Cooper (Sixth Form Pastoral Assistant) and Mrs O’Nien (Administrator) provide help in monitoring the progress of individuals and programmes of support where needed. Our study skills support programme includes specialist careers advice and individual guidance for those seeking entry to higher education or those who wish to start their career straight after Sixth Form.

Approximately 80% of our students proceed to degree level courses or higher apprenticeships every year.
