Welcome to your Hemel Hempstead School sixty second update. This week our Year Twelve and Thirteen mathematicians achieved merits and distinctions in the nationwide UK Maths Trust Challenges, and the library has been all decked out for Halloween ready for the English faculty House writing competition. There were fantastic entries in the Chemistry Bake off, A Level Geographers discovered new ways of essay planning, the Year 10 netball team beat JFK and the Year 9 Netball B team played their first match of the season. Year 11 art students took a inspiring trip to The British Museum and our Year 9 boys football also beat JFK. Next week is Gold week, look forward to Year 11 parents evening, and House Drama. In this week's newsletter we continue to celebrate Black History month, through a new collection in the library of fiction and non-fiction works with books for all ages. The House Literary competition launches with its Halloween theme, 'short and spooky', there are R4 congratulations for Douglas for his environmental work and details of the Year 10 technology trip to Williams Formula One racing. House Drama is just around the corner, with its Harry Potter theme, the Dance Department have been taking some stunning photos of their students work, its been Apple Turnover time in Year 11 food lessons, the year 7 rugby team have played their first games, Virag's art work is Star of the Month, the senior basketball team won away against Longdean, whilst our Year 8 netball teams both won away against Abbots Hill, and the year 7 boys football team beat Parmiters in the Presidents Trophy.
