Emergency school closures
This page details what we would do if we ever needed to close the school in an emergency, such as very heavy snow.
Firstly, we would only close if we absolutely had to. As a parent, I fully understand how inconvenient it is for working parents and as a teacher I know how much learning is missed from just one day of absence. We would only ever close if it was unsafe not to.
If we did have to close we would consider first a partial closure, allowing Years 11 and 13 to use parts of the site, whilst closing to other years, recognising that public examinations are now only a few months away.
The best way to keep up to date is via our website at www.hhs.herts.sch.uk, on Twitter @HemelHSchool and on Instagram @hemelhempsteadschool. There may also be announcements on local BBC radio.
I would encourage you to follow us on Twitter and Instagram anyway to keep up to date with all the fantastic things happening at The Hemel Hempstead School.
