Welcome to the website for The Hemel Hempstead School. The school has played a significant part in the borough of Dacorum since 1931. The imposing façade with its stone pillars overlooking extensive playing fields leading to Heath Barn, our 17^th century Music centre and thence to the village of Boxmoor, gives an impression of traditional values which underpin the school, whilst our many newer buildings speak of the progressive aspects of our daily work.

 

In our eightieth year, the school is celebrating an era of success and reasons to be proud of the past and the present. Achievement was judged to be ‘outstanding’ at Key Stage 3 and 4 in our most recent OfSTED inspection in March 2011 and we pride ourselves on enabling every student to achieve of their best.

 

We have high standards and expectations which are exemplified in the smart and distinctive uniform, the well-established and highly successful house system as well as the wide range of sporting, artistic, dramatic, musical, expeditionary and academic extra-curricular activities which are regarded as exceptional in Hertfordshire and beyond. As National Rock Challenge winners in 2011 and as the holders of the International Schools Award, we revel in our capacity to produce superb quality productions, performances and events to involve and delight all.

 

Nationally recognised as having specialisms in the Arts, Mathematics, Science and Gifted and Talented, we approach 2011-12 with a talented and dedicated teaching staff, a committed group of support staff, a thriving Sixth Form and a dynamic cohort of students who reflect our school motto of ‘Esse Quam Videri’.
